Social Protection

Social protection is one of the key mechanisms brought forward in international discussions about the redistribution agenda in middle-income countries (MICs), mainly under the political leadership of international organizations.

The Work Package is subdivided in three sub-packages:

  • SP1 will map the main trends in thinking about the role of social protection mechanisms in MICs, with a special focus on the Belgian partner countries.
  • SP2 will look at case studie in selected partner countries of Belgium (MICs) and study the ongoing implementation and reforms of social-protection redistribution systems.
  • SP3 will explore in detail the different policy options for Belgium in terms of the support strategies regarding social protection in MIC partner countries.
