IOB

IOB is a multidisciplinary institute involved in the triple function of academic teaching, scientific research and service to the community in the area of economic, political and social aspects of devel-opment policy and management. It was born in 2000 in its current form through the pooling of resources at the University of Antwerp. IOB research centers around development as a multi-actor and multi-level phenomenon and is organized along four research lines: conditional finance for development; international markets and the poor; state, economy and society; and local institutions for development. IOB has a broad network of development studies institutes through its participa-tion in the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) and Re-search School for Resource Studies for Development (CERES) and the active cultivation of institution-al university partnerships in the South (including in DR Congo, Burundi, Uganda, Nicaragua and Ecuador).
