BeFinD
What is BeFinD?
Belgian policy research group on Financing for Development (BeFinD) is a consortium of four research centers at Belgian universities with the objective of covering the policy and research questions that are the most relevant to Financing for Development in the framework of the Academic Research Group for Policy Support (ACROPOLIS).
ACROPOLIS aims to support the decision-making of the Belgian Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGD) by evidence-based research.
The programme is funded by both ARES-CCD and VLIR-UOS. It brings together policymakers from DGD, BTC, and other relevant governmental actors on the one hand and researchers from both Dutch- and French-speaking universities in Belgium on the other for a duration of 18 months (May 2017-October 2018). The predecessor BeFinD project ran from May 2014 up to May 2017.
What we do?
We aim at developing new research areas to provide theoretically sound, empirically grounded, and practically feasible policy support to Belgian Development Cooperation.
Our research is targeted in a way such that its findings become a direct input for policy advice on the debates about the emerging landscape of development finance and on how traditional donors like Belgium can best adapt.
Our research can be summarized in 5 work packages.
